ekporter93 wrote I contacted microsoft support via the chat system and after talking with them they informed me that just changing the region on the xbox one aka the console region along with the timezone and buying it won't give you access. You actually have to go into xboxlive.com and change your GT and or Account region to New Zealand as well. They both have to match according to this person. I am hesitant to do this because I don't know how long the transfer would take. She said its pretty instantaneous but it has taken up to 6 hours before so.

Just food for thought. If anyone does try this please let me know if it works. Other than that I will wait to see if it becomes available to play once Australia launches. If not then I guess I will be on later tonight.

If this is true, why not just make a new account for your Xbox One (as long as your main account has Gold, so will the new account you create). Make a New Zealand account and load up AW (if it works) and then sign out and back into your main one? Just a theory.
Just then I created a fresh NZ account, and I tried launching AW and still no outcome. I'm going to be waiting to see f it will still work on the Official Australian release. (Which is in roughly 12 minutes).

Yeah, I've made a NZ account also. It's not the end of the world if it doesn't work, look how long the majority of us have waited, no harm in waiting another 11 hours.
