This would be a far superior build for $2k;

There are so many terrible things with it
1 Why exactly do you need a Maximus VI?
2 16GB RAM is only needed for constant rendering and uploading
3 You can get a cheaper 3TB HDD for $101
4 the GTX 970 is way better than the 290
5 And really a $175 mid sized case...
6 you can get cheaper 750W Gold PSU's
7 WiFi is terrible for gaming
8 Whhhyy a $100 keyboard you can get a cheaper one thats almost the exact same
9 THe mouse is $50 and razer there is nothing good about it for the price its like a standers mouse with DPI controll

Maximus VI - Needed it to be as upgradeable as possible, I wanted this to be a pc that would LAST.

16GB RAM - Note my use of workstation in the title, IT WILL BE DOING CONSTANT RENDERING AND UPLOADING.

3TB HDD - This is the WD Black Series, I trust Western Digital and I know from research the Black series is one of their best. Also, 3TB IS required because as I have said, I want this to last, and with game sizes increasing.. Titanfall..

XFX Radeon R9 290 - This can run any game at Ultra. It has 4GB of RAM, the same as the 970 also. I do not have experience with NVIDIA cards either, I have always been with AMD, so maybe I'm being a bit BIAS?

Case - Good cable management and enough room for just what we need. I also really like Corsair.

PSU - It is powerful with 90% efficiency and it looks Professional :3

WiFi - Not everyone has wired. What if someone bought a PC and didn't have an internet with a wired connection? What about LAN Parties at friends house? If you want Wired aswell just add it yourself.

Keyboard - Corsair and it looks pretty :3

Mouse - I like razer. And it also looks pretty lol :3

I would reply to your last post but I noticed you have updated your build in the OP, so I'll comment on that instead. Glad to see you've gone 2011-3 instead. The Asrock and MSI board are both good, get whichever you prefer but I feel like the MSI mobo is a better choice since it is all black and would look much nicer than the black and blue Asrock board. Why are you adamant about getting 4x4GB RAM? The 2x8GB Crucial RAM I recommended will be fine, and gives you more room for upgrading RAM in the future, as well as the fact that it is cheaper. The MX100 and 840 EVO are both great SSD's but the 256GB MX100 would be a wiser choice than the 120GB 840 EVO. The 980 I recommended is better than the one in your updated build, why would you go with a reference cooler that costs more? Optical drives are becoming more and more obsolete by the day, you can download pretty much everything now-a-days and optical drives IMHO, look ugly and clutter your case. If you must have an optical drive, an external optical drive may be a good decision. Spending $50 on a non-mechanical keyboard is a huge waste. Also, buying something because it is "pretty" is stupid, the Raptor M45 is a much better mouse than the Razer Naga. Absolutely no need for a 750W PSU, the XFX unit I suggested is a better PSU than the Corsair unit in your updated build. Even if you were to add a 2nd 980 in SLI in the future, a solid 600W PSU would run it perfectly fine. Using wi-fi with a $2k build would be a baaaad choice. Get a long ethernet cable and run it through your walls, or ceiling to an ethernet switch in your room, then use a wired connection. A $40 case in a $2k build? The NZXT S340 is a much better case than the HAF 912 and looks nicer. Also, if you can get a little more mney you could upgrade your cooler to the NZXT Kraken X61 which will keep your CPU slightly cooler than a H100i.
