Hey guys I've been wanting to overclock my CPU for a while now but I wanted to wait until I got better cooling in my system and now I do.

So I was wandering would it be worth it to overclock my CPU? How much of a performance boost could I expect?

Specs:
FX-8150 3.6GHz
ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus

Overclocking does provide a small performance boost, however it isn't really noticeable. Overclocking is more for the epeen imo

Ahh, thanks for the reply man. I'll probably just hold off then. My CPU is pretty fast at stock speeds anyway

That really depends on what you are running on the PC, PC games will see little to no boost on a decent CPU. Myself I use Dolphin emulator a fair bit and that really benefits from an overclock, my 3570K @ stock speeds couldn't run some games at there full FPS which caused the game to run slower than it should overclocking to 4.3GHz got those games running full speed.

So in some cases overclocking is required.
