You cannot work out when the world will end, no one knows how it will end, either an asteroid, Human extinction through diseases or any other form of mass destruction. There is no way we can give a precise year when the world will end.

He didn't technically believe that the world would end.
He was a Christian and believed that the gospel had to be taught all over the world, as the only religion, before the rapture could begin.
He put this date of global change in thought at 2060, but he also thought it could happen in 2034.

His reasoning for the specific date of 2060 is quite arbitrary, however.
He took a quote from the book of Daniel which contained the phrase: 'times, times and a half a time' and concluded that it was referring to 3 and a half years [that's a rather gigantic assumption right there] which is 1,260 days.
He changed days to years, so now he had 1,260 years to work with, which he interpreted as a countdown to when Jesus would return.
He put the start of the countdown at 800 AD when the Holy Roman Empire was established as a Christian empire.
Add 800 to 1,260 and you have 2060.

The only reason anyone would worry about this is because they are both:
A) A Christian.
B) Subject to believing huge logical jumps and assumptions as substitutes for sound logic.

Of which, I am neither.

There's been so many times saying when the world is going to end. I don't believe anything about this topic anymore. If it ends, it ends.
