I've gone through phases of playing both Paintball & Airsoft. From my experience I think I had way more fun playing Airsoft. I think mainly because Airsoft was much cheaper and less messy. Plus, chances are you'll probably grow out of the phase eventually and you'll be saving yourself a lot more money in the long run. Not trashing paintball fans, just my opinion.

Most air soft masks are just paintball masks with metal mesh in the eyes.

I've taken tons of girls paint balling but doubt they'd ever want to play airsoft. More of a kids thing.
If you're looking for a military scenario team paintball is full of them.
And for all the people who say "airs oft is more realistic , it's guns look real" paintball has realistic looking markers too. Just find the brands. Sim4 , Tippmann , Empire BT

Pants and jerseys $100 each
Cheap nike baseball cleats
1 play day is $70 at the minimum

So if money is an issue don't choose paintball


Just my opinion and facts

Paintball is better for competitive arena play but for milsim, scenarios and larger games I would have to go with Airsoft.

Guns are more realistic
Actually good clothes and equipment that are not a bunch of bright colors
You get what you pay for
cheaper guns
cheaper ammo
cheaper admission
cheaper maintenance
Not a peasant sport
Airsoft has large events around the world.(The one I attend every year Fulda Gap has 1300)
There are airsoft fields all over the place. Many fields are both airsoft and paintball.
Airsoft you have more of a variety of goggles or masks
Hurts less. Hurting more does not make you more manly it just means you now have welts and bruises...congrats.
A third of my airsoft team are girls
Most the people I play with are 15-50. Little kids can't afford to leave the yard and go to the events.
Airsoft equipment is great for milsim because everything works and looks more realistic as they dont have a huge CO2 tank weighing down your gun.
Less messy

My gun cost $300
My goggles $110 (they have built in fans to prevent fog)
Multicam pants and shirt $50 each
Multicam carrier plate vest $90
Balaclava $5
Military boots $60
1 play day is $15 at the minimum

So if money is an issue choose Airsoft

My School Has been put on lock down, twice in two weeks because of airsoft guns lol

you should start of with pistols... don't go straight into ar's and or smg's

For everyone saying airsoft is more realistic because it doesn't have a big co2 tank and a hopper (not a giant egg). These things are optional and the only ones who really use them are speedball players. People who are on sponsored teams.


This is a microscopic percentage of the paintball guns I see people use all the time. It's also only one brands worth. (RAP4)

I enjoy playing paintball alot more than airsoft, it seems like you get more of an adrenaline rush from paintball because it actually hurts unlike airsoft. If airsoft is more common in your area then you may aswell choose that.
