Hey guys, im turning 16 soon and i have to choose what type of vehicle i want before the end of this month so my parents can start looking. I cant get a brand new vehicle. So i was looking at a 2002 Chevy Thahoe and a 2005 Dodge ram 1500. I dont mud ride or anything, so four wheel drive isnt a must. I do want a vehicle that i could easily put speakers into though. but i want the vehicle to be reliable. Anyone have any thoughts?

Well if you want subs, the tahoe is going to make that over 100x easier. So if thats what you want then go for the tahoe.

I would go with the 2002 Chevy Tahoe. Simply because I know someone who has a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 and it's a terrible truck honestly.

If you're looking for an amazing truck with a lot of easy customization options, Look for the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins turbo desiel.

Really? There are plently of listings for fully functional early 2000s Cummins Diesel Rams for $3000-9000. Tahoes of that year go for even cheaper.

OP: The Tahoe is a good car, those Vortec motors will run for a very long time. Not sure if all Tahoes are Vortecs but I feel like most of them would be. Wouldn't hurt to check when you find one you like. Try to find one with low mileage obviously, but don't buy one with over 120k on it, as it won't really last you that well for the length of time I'm assuming you'll need your car. If you do get a Cummins diesel, maintain it well and it could last you past 400k.

Tahoe. Not too sure if it would have the Vortec 5.7 like my '99 or the 5.3 but either way it will last you a very long time, well beyond 200k if maintained well as mine was treated very poorly by it's previous owner for over 202k miles and still runs like a champ at 211k even though it's mostly just a four wheeling toy. I also had my Tahoe fitted for two 15" subs with a very large box which fits very comfortably in the back. I have had nothing but bad experiences with Dodge trucks so I'll just leave it up to you!
