So I have this logo which I want to upscale before adding text. However when I upscale it, the different layers pull away from each other, leaving white gaps... any ideas?

Note that these pictures are just segments of the logo, not the whole thing.

It seems to me that you haven't selected all the layers, maybe some are locked.

This may be it, if it isn't then I don't know.

I have selected them all with ctrl+a, even tried grouping the layers. Still no luck.

You could try *ctrl+a* then right click>Scale, not sure if this is in whatever version you're on but its possible.

Produces exactly the same effect, really stumped on this one.

Same here bro, I'm honestly not sure anymore. Try 'Googling' it.

How to upscale in Illustrator without pieces moving around:
  • Select everything you want to upscale
  • Go to object
  • Expand
  • Expand the appearance and or just a plain expand
  • Then try to upscale and it should all stay together and look how it is supposed to look
