I am running W8.1 and it recently started doing this after I stopped using it for 3 days. I log on and after 5-10 minutes it just forces the shutdown. it will show the "Shutting Down" screen and sometimes asks me to cancel or shutdown anyway and i click cancel but it still shuts down.

Things I've tried:
made sure its not over heating
check the auto sleep setting (set at never go to sleep)

Try going to Safe Mode, then run a virus scan possibly could be a RAT or some kind of virus because by your explanation I don't see any reason why your computer would be shutting off, try checking if anything isn't loose or anything that's possibly making it turn off or something.

Ok, i checked if there were any updates and there was a security one so ill see if that was the problem first before i go into safe mode and run the scan.
