Have you looked in the back of the monitor to make sure that the cords have a secure connection and are fully plugged in?

One of the most common mistakes and issues is loose cords.

Well lets start with the basics:

Is the volume turned up?

Are you sure that it has built in speakers?

Is it on the correct input?

If it's a monitor it may or may not have built in speakers. You should check if plugging in headphones will work and if they do that means you'll need external speakers.
