I really like this build, and plan on getting this. Also, if I'm gaming, would I necessarily need a CPU cooler or not? From what I've heard the stock will do fine? I don't really plan on over clocking right away but if I do would I need a CPU cooler?
Thanks.

You don't NEED a cpu cooler but you may as well get one, they aren't very expensive and they will do a much better job than the stock cooler and therefore will increase the lifespan of your Cpu.

The stock coolers on Intel's devil canyon CPU's are fine. However, with an overclockable CPU, I can only assume you will be overclocking? If so, you will want an aftermarket CPU cooler. If not, the 4690k is a waste of $30. Get the 4590 instead of you're not overclocking. The Phantom is a very old case, you'd be much better off with a more recently released case. I'm pretty sure myself and a few others have already helped you? Although, you had an $800 budget if I'm not mistaken?

If overclocking;

Overclockable CPU on a nice board. Assuming you wanted a white case as well. A little bit more expensive, quite a bit better.

About the budget: Yeah that was my budget but I'm a bit flexible because it's a birthday present
Instead of over clocking I think I'll save the $30 like you suggested. And is the Phantom really that bad of a case?

It's not "bad" per se, but it's old. Why build a new PC with old components? The Fractal Design Define R4 and the NZXT H440 are two of many better cases.

Since you're budget is around $1000 and you don't plan on overclocking, something like this would be a wise choice;

I'm of course, only assuming you want a white case. If so, and you don't like the R4 too much, you might like this;

Both, the R4 and the H440 have fantastic cable management and look beautiful. Both have a wide variety of colours to choose from. Case is 90% personal choice since it's you that has to see it every day but I would recommend either of those cases.

Ah, gotcha. I'll probably end up getting one of those two then since they seem to be a lot nicer than the Phantom. I just liked the looks of the Phantom haha. Thank you so much for all the information!

The Phantom 240 is not an old case, in fact is newer than the H440. The case is pretty much unbeatable for the price. The Define R4 and H440 are surely better, but they're more expensive; Especially the H440.
