I gave my old PC to my cousin, however there's problems.

His routers network setting for security is WPA2-Personal. However his desktop is automatically picking up the security as WEP.
The result of this is invalid security key when trying to connect.
He manually creates a network with security settings changed to WPA2 like it should. However when he connects it automatically kicks him off saying the computer settings and network settings do not match.

In short, WPA2 is being displayed as WEP.

How "old" is the PC? This happened to me before(A Windows XP SP1 laptop) and it is caused when an outdated system is trying to use network protocols unfamiliar to it.

You have 2 options here.
1. This will be more challenging if you or your cousin aren't "tech savy". You would need to do is go in the router, go to a tab called "wireless" or "security" and change the protocol type from WPA2 to WEP.

2. Install a new version of Windows(7 or 8) Much more simplistic than going into the router settings.

If you need more specific directions, feel free to PM me.
