My friend gave me his xbox 360 elite he never had a HDD on it so I put one of mines on it and it couldn't find it so when I put it on my JTAG it shows theirs a HDD why is that it doesn't show on the retail?

In order for a JTAG to use that HDD, it needs to be in FAT32 format I believe.
I think that when using it with a retail, it won't recognize that because M$ requires you to "format" it to work with the xbox.
