Gun Control

I did a bit of research and found that annually, in the United States, there are nearly 12 thousand more deaths related and attributed to alcohol than those relating to firearms.
We already know why alcohol cant be taken out of the equation. We can tell this because Prohibition was already a failed experiment.
But guns now seem to be the focus of a lot of the media's agenda.
Why, if violence is so prevalent in media anyways, does the government care about limiting our ability to use firearms?
Post any links and/or opinions you have relating to firearms here for discussion.

Living in the UK, where almost every Firearm is banned, apart from hunting rifles and some shotguns, I'm not too bothered either way, but No guns don't kill people, the person carrying the gun does.

This is the way I feel, I live in the United States but I am not one of the "You cant take away our freedoms" type of American. I live in Texas, predominantly a place where everyone owns a gun, and I shoot guns everyday. I think that there should be some restrictions on owning a gun and some possible mental heath checks and things of this nature.

To be honest, putting some restrictions on guns isn't really going to solve anything, the bad types who do harm with firearms are still going to get there hands on one, if you wan't to stop or lower gun crime, you have to go the way the UK has went, and pretty much completely ban them, or limit them to farmers, gamekeepers and others who do it as a sport, even Airsoft in the UK is heavily monitored and you need to go to an Airsoft skirmish at least once a month, for them to give you a licence to buy one.

In my opinion, this is honestly the way the U.S should go as well...
I am tiered of turning on the news everyday to see that another school shooting has happened, or another mass killing.

I think with the US it has been left far to late, there are so many guns on the street now that regardless of what they do, gun crime will never be any lower.

It was actually a School shooting that lead to the complete bans of Handguns in the UK.

It is sad to say that you are correct, The United States has gone too long with out regulation and now it is too far gone. It is a sad thing to see when the general public pushes something away that will help them in the long run...

My gun loaded itself, aimed, and fired at me killing me. Doesnt make sense because guns dont kill people. It gives people the power to kill. There are many factors as of why, but stupid people should not possess them, thats that

The title is just there to spark discussion, not to be taken literally...
Your opinion on the other hand is correct, mentally unstable people should not be allowed to own a gun or be around any...

where i live in Australia you have to be part of a gun club or own a gun licence, Unless you live on a farm you're allowed some sort of fire arm. But I've never seen serious killings/shootings or misuse of fire arms where I live.

(IN MY OPINION) You should not be able to walk around or own a gun without a licence or mental health check.
