So currently my PC is in a room far away from our modem, so direct connecting with an Ethernet cable is out of the question. Right now when I'm downloading games, the highest speed I get is 1.5 MBPS. What can I do to speed up my connection? Should I try a wifi hotspot thing? Or a wifi booster? Please help.

Depending on how fast your internet is by itself. At my father's, wired connection gets 5mbps, but wireless gets around 1.5. With a repeater it boosted it to like 3mbps

The wifi adapter I'm using now is just a USB adapter from Edimax.

If you get a repeater and connect to that, that may help with the speeds.

I wouldn't bother with wifi boosters. I would use powerline adapters. Either the normal ethernet or the wireless ones.

I use these: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

They're pretty easy to set up and they work really well.
