So today I was looking for the title of my car and found it. Looking at it to make sure everything is right before I sell it and I run across something, My "Identification Number" on my title is different from my VIN on my Car?? It has the same amount of numbers and the 1st 4 Numbers and letters are the same, but then after that there all different, but it does have the correct Color, Make, Model, and Year?

Just to be clear, you didn't buy a car with a different VIN number then the VIN on the title, right?

Well, It was a gift.. And little worried about it because, then that wouldn't Be the title to MY car..

Called the person who gave it to me, and he said he didn't have any problems with it through the DMV.. Just the if the car was stolen, I would be screwed.. Because there not the same VIN's.. Little bit worried, but the car was a gift.

Have him go with you to the DMV when hes available. If he declines because of a fishy excuse, I'd dig deeper and find out more information on the car and him.

Is the VIN on your car permanently on there? People could have slapped on a different number to hide the car's actual history and vice versa. I knew somebody in the past that bought a salvage titled car that had a VIN that was placed on and it looked like nothing was suspicious and they tried selling it a few years later and the mechanic found out the car was salvaged. Then they checked the VIN, and it wasn't the actual one, the actual one was behind.

But VIN are supposed to be the exact same to begin with because the make, model, and year all have a pattern to it. A 2010 Mustang's beginning VIN is going to be the same as any 2010 Mustang.

If you have the money, I'd get a history report on both VIN and compare them. One of them will probably be your car and the other won't. Make sure you don't lose the previous owner if you reached him. Doesn't sound legit if he went to the DMV and they said no worries about having a different VIN but if somebody steals your car then you're screwed.

Looked around, and I think that the dash was swapped, the VIN on the dash was for a 03' GTS.. I haven't checked the door yet since I am at work now, but yeah.. Think that is what it is.. Hope so..

You should probably get that car checked by a mechanic so he can evaluate all aspects of the car since they'll take apart the car safely and check to see if there is any traces of anything else suspicious. You could get in trouble if you sell the car at this point since you don't have everything straight and solved.

Yeah, look around on the car since there are multiple VIN numbers stamped on. If all the other VINs match then the dash was just swapped which is no big deal really. You'll know right away if somethings wrong if the VIN's don't match.
