It's possible you can get your refund back. I got scammed off by someone and paid them using "friends and family" I know I'm stupid but I got my money back.
What to do, call paypal and make a claim, wait 10 days, if they still haven't closed the case after 10 days, call them again and tell them the situation. If you win the case but still haven't received the money call them again. That's what I did and I got my money back.
