I am looking to upgrade my current PC by a substantial amount my budget is 1.5-1.8k pounds so around 3000 US dollars.

Here is my current build:

I would like to know,

- Is the PSU overkill even if I overclock?
- Will I need separate cooling for the superclocked GPU?, if so any recommendations.
- Can it be improved in any way?

The motherboard, i personally think its bit too expensive and many of the things you are paying extra for you most likely wont use. Also the PSU is just fine.

This is what I'd suggest.

The monitor is important. It's 2560x1440 because it's pointless to get such a high-end card if you don't have the pixels to make use of it. I went with the 290X because it's 100 GBP cheaper than the 780 Ti, but not 100 GBP slower. If you want slightly better performance and you're willing to pay for the diminishing returns or prefer Nvidia features, swap it for a 780 Ti. The same goes for the case; the H440 is great but there's the Fractal R4 and Arc Midi, NZXT Phantom, Antec 1100, etc. to consider. The RAM is slower, but it will have very little to no impact on performance and you can counteract it with overclocking. RAM selection in the UK is very poor.

If I was going with your build, I would get a different case. Since the airflow will be pretty poor and air cooling on the H440 seems rather pointless. The R9 290X will also run hotter than it would on another case. But I really see no point on getting the 290X over the 780ti when he can afford it. Unless he only plays Battlefield 4, the 780ti will outperform it on every other game and video editing. Not to mention that it will run cooler, quieter, with less power consumption, superior drivers and features.

I will be sticking to the 780 to but making some small adjustments according to r00ts build

I disagree. The H440 comes with three 120mm fans in the front and a 140mm fan at the rear so it's certainly good for air cooling. The 780 Ti should actually consume more power and although it runs cooler, it's different silicon and it behaves differently. I'm just suggesting it because he might want to save some money and he might prefer AMD features or use OpenCL. The drivers are just as good.
