Matic has better defending stats than Gerrard but if you want a CDM or CM that is more up in the oppositions half then Gerrard is the one, he has really good shooting which can be taken advantage of from long shots and free kicks, where as Matic is more about defending counter attacks etc...

I would say Gerrard ordinarily but I've heard some really had things about his TOTS card so I'd probably get Matic.
