it really depends on what you plan on doing with it. you can run homebrew, emulators, get games for free (if your into piracy), mod/hack games cods are the most popular, run xbox og games, you can also use link which in a sense is xbl only its refined to other players with rgh or jtags and its free but for the most part only people who play cod are on it and its not a ton of people either. thats what i could think of off the top of my head so i have a good feeling somebody after me can add even more to the list because i know im not covering everything

Of course it is. If you want to modify games and plan on using emulator's then yes, it is definitely worth purchasing a modified console. If you want to play with friend's, then it's pointless.

and if im not mistaken an unshared would get you no more then 3 hours online. part of me wants to say 1 hour but regardless kvs last days even weeks now. so yea going online is cheap compared to how it used to be

It was also completely free at one point so it's not cheap at all. Especially considering the people who run XBLSE are very sketchy.

What in god's name are you talking about? An unshared KV lasts an hour but it lasts "days even weeks"? What? How can a KV that last an hour, last weeks? It shouldn't cost at all to have a modified console online. It should be free. The people who run XBLSE are money-hungry and greedy. The online method should be released to the public for free and KV's should not cost as much as $20-$25 each for an unshared. So, I have to disagree here, getting a modified console online, is not cheap.

Thanks everyone for the feedback Im just kind of torn between saving for a next gen and then getting a jtag/rgh or a jtag/rgh first then the next gen because ive always loved modded games and dinking around in mod menu lobbies on cod but I just dont want to buy one and then a few weeks later have it be obsolete
