They are not dangerous unless you do not know how to drive one. The only thing you should worry about is the surrounding drivers.

There is no real danger if you're going 28mph.

Just don't go mental and you should be fine!

The biggest danger is kids getting mopeds so they can dick about with their mates.

I have been a motorbike rider for several years and nothing annoys me more than seeing kids next to each other leaning forward racing like they know what they are doing after completing a simple CBT.

Sadly the best way to learn what can go wrong is to have it go wrong.

I didnt appreciate the dangers until I was side swiped by a car when i wasnt concentrating because I thought i knew what i was doing.

So basically pay attention, wear full protection and dont be a dick

I have one friend who bought a nissan micra for 60 pounds and he's a maniac on the roads! His exhaust fell off so what he did was he found a piece of scaffolding pipe and he now uses that as an exhaust pipe haha! But I'm 100% not going out when he is out!

lets be honest, there are so many kinds of dangers with them. Your out in the open. Youre vunerable and you have no metal around you to protect you from a crash. The good news is the dangers dont count as much on a moped. They are still more dangerous than cars but, not going at significant speed and driving careful you should be just fine, you have nothing to worry about.

actually as a young driver a 28mph moped is far less dangerous than a car, bike drivers are generally far safer on the road than car drivers, mainly because you know to keep your wits about you because its in your own best interest. And unlike cars its hard to get distracted by things such as mobile phones and you dont have 'mates' egging you on to go faster and drive dangerously. You mention the metal around you in a car, if you crash that metal can become your coffin by trapping you in, especially if the car catches fire. The biggest danger to bikes, is careless car drivers, (which there are a lot of) so long as you keep alert when you are on your moped and you pay attention, you will be fine. The only times ive been close to crashing is when idiotic car drivers pull out without paying attention.

Just make sure you wear protective clothing when riding, not shorts and shirts like you see some people riding with, and you will be fine at 28 mph.

If you ever see a car looking likes its going into your space, aka pulling out on you or trying to pull across you have a horn for a reason, don't be afraid to use it to warn of your presence
