For some reason, it really bugs me when people use the term eSports when referring to competitive gaming. No matter how competitive gaming is, I don't see how people can refer to it as a Sport. The definition of sport is: "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment."

I understand people are allowed to say what they want, but you cant really tell me that moving your fingers is physical exertion. This may seem like a stupid rant, but it honestly bothers me when people refer to competitive gaming as a sport. Thats just my opinion.

Always bugged me this, as for "building up a sweat" playing games, thats a mental problem not an effect of physical activity, just like people sweat when they are nervous. In fact when I had an xbox, I used to physically sweat when I was playing a really good team and we were winning, was horrible haha.

Nothing about gaming is a sport, its fact haha, thats why they added the "e" before.

Do you even know what the "e" means? I dont see whats a problem with the term eSport, you can get a visa in some countries for eSport, its classed as a job by some governments

I dont think you realise how big eSports are now

I Wonder why it is referred to that, It's stupid in my opinion and should only be referred to as Competitive Gaming.

I honestly disagree with you on this one. While the first half of the definition doesn't apply, the second one does. You need to look at it from another perspective. Competitive gamers do many of the things that athletes do, while leaving out the physical activity.

1. They train for hours upon hours to get better
2. They work on communication and tactics that'll help then win.
3. Their team is most likely like a family to them, and most of all, it's entertaining.

You also need to keep in mind that it requires the same skill and mental focus as any other sport. Like I said above, they practice a lot just like any sports team would. Also, while it doesn't have a physical effect like sports do, here are some of the benefits:

1. Following instructions.
2. Problem solving and logic.
3. Hand-eye coordination, fine motor and spatial skills.
4. Multitasking, simultaneous tracking of many shifting variables and managing.
5. Quick thinking, making fast analysis and decisions.
6. Accuracy
7. Strategy and anticipation

Well look at Email and Echeck. They have a E in them. Meaning electronic, not physical. So eSports means Electronic sports.

I agree, I don't see how sitting down playing a video game is a sport. But look at today's society, everything is a sport pretty much.

I agree, I saw the new razer video for their new keyboard, and it said something like it is used for training in the hands of the top esports athletes.
They're not athletes.
I just can't put it into words, how in the hell are they athletes? lol.
