Hey guys i need help with fixing my PS3's HDD this is the story: So i have 2 old fat PS3 one with a 80gb HDD and one with a 640gb HDD now the one with the 80gb is working fine to this day but recently my 640GB PS3 GPU has Shat itself so i want to put the 640gb HDD into the 80gb console (Keep in mind they both have the same data on them) when i plug it in it asks to plug the USB in with the update data now after i have done that it asks to format the system partition but it says all data on the system storage may be deleted. so if i go ahead with the format will i still have all the Data (Saves, Music whatev)or will that be gone? PLEASE HELP

Yes. Only way to transfer data to a different PS3 is if the original works. Put the HDD in the PS3 you took it out of then back up. That's the only way to keep your data

As said above you have to put the 640 hdd back in the Original Ps3.
You can data transfer from one Ps3 to another but you will need a equal size hdd or plus 50 gig data storage used.
If the Ps3 hasn't completely died.
IF YOU FORMAT THE HDD IT WILL WIPE EVERYTHING.

It will delete everything of the hard drive. The only way you can save the data on the 640gb is by repairing the console.
