Real nice list there and actually Public Enemy was the first ever hip-hop I heard, but the rest of the list is good too, was just listening to Straight outta Compton earlier and watched Juice on friday which has Pac in and Boyz in the hood last night which has Ice cube in.

Depends on what you mean by modern. I listen to a lot of HipHop/R&B from 2000-2009ish.

Which years would you like?

i like eminem tupaac dont mind biggie but if anyone PUTS LIL WAYNE then im done haha but i think the reason i prefer hip hop instead of rap is that rap is lil wayne, drake, Nikki M ect they rap about having sex taking drugs but people like tupac rap about life and coming from the bottom i do like drake tho

Lavish wrote I don't listen to rap and expect to hear a master lyricists.

When I listen to rap, it's drill music.
It gets me hype.

So;
Chief Keef
Fredo Santana
SD
Gucci Mane
Etc, etc.

Well that's the difference between Hip Hop and Rap.

Rap is more the drill style whilst Hip Hop has the lyricist. I personally prefer lyricists over drill but, their are some really good drill style Hip Hop songs.

Sorry for late reply, been away with work, etc.
But dude, what you just said, I totally agree with you.
Its mostly Rap these days, with some glitchy drums and dreadful lyrics.

My favorite is eminem and i feel like half the people who say Tupac or Nas are just trying to be "cool" and crap, though that doesn't mean you guys are, just alot of people do
