So my friend has a minor cracked galaxy s3 and I have an old iPhone 4S. He wants to sell me the phone for $30 and he said he factory reset it. Is there a way I could use his S3 while still under contract with my iPhone 4S?

As long as the S3 is for Sprint then all you'd have to do is take it to a Sprint store and tell them you want your number activated on that phone and you're good to go.

You could also dial *228 and try to do it over the phone but unless you're familiar with the lingo it can be confusing.

Yes it is a sprint phone. And Is this going to cost me anything to get it switched? Will my bill be affected at all? I know these are probably questions I should ask a sprint employee but thanks for the responses!

Nope, shouldn't cost you anything at all since you got the phone from a third party and has previously been activated on the network.
I am not a sprint employee but I do work in the industry and you should ask them before you make the switch just to be sure.

Sprint doesn't use SIM cards, i think they charge a $30 activation fee though.
