Note: These options may not fix everyone's issues due to everyone having different forms of hardware and some of which may not meet the requirements for the game itself but I shall try my best to at least give you viable settings to play the game at decent frames.

Lets begin, Option 1: Why does this help you?

Not many people know that you can totally remove the grass to give you a substantial boost to your FPS and it will also give you an advantage over players that use grass. Simply because you'd be able to go prone and still see clearly whereas they'd have some difficulties. Although I do not condone taking advantage of this, it is a must for people having issues within DayZ.

How do we remove the grass? Read below.

If you go into your Steam folder > SteamApps > common > DayZ > Addons > Move the plants2_clutter.pbo and the plants2_clutter.pbo.dayz,bisign files out of the folder (Make sure to keep them somewhere safe so you can put them back in if you prefer grass).

Method 2: View distance selections.

In the DayZ mod we had a considerably low yet sufficient view distance (1600m) which would not only give us a far enough view to see over fields etc without sacrificing too much FPS. Now with Standalone we have been given a standard 3000m which is genuinely not needed as you will more than likely not spot anyone above 800-900m at a push. The fact that you are forced to render buildings and what-not that are out of your view distance is confusing to me as it constantly drops your frames without any real reason to.

How to change these values:

What you'll want to do is located your Documents folder > DayZ > Open your player profile with Notepad or any form of text editing program > Press CTRL+F and type in 'viewDistance' > Edit the value that says 'viewDistance=3000'. I personally went with the good ol' 1600 > Once edited save the file and you're good to go with your new value.

Do you not want buildings, trees, bushes etc to render from too far away? Lets sort this:

Head back into your player profile file and search for 'preferredObjectViewDistance' and edit the value to your liking, I tend not to go lower than 1000 as that works perfectly, for me at least.

Here is a link showing you how badly viewDistance can affect your FPS, remember this is from the mod and Standalone has a lot better quality in terms of textures and what-not so these are not accurate and Standalone will prove more of a strain.

Note: More options will be added later as it's currently 5AM so I shall update the thread sometime through the day.
