From my experience on lynda is a massive amount of ads to buy their products and only a small (very small) selection of free tutorials to actually view from, and even some weren't even the full tutorial.

I recommend getting a free e-book, watching free lectures from Stanford on youtube, etc...

You are right about the ads but the still offer many top notch quality videos that are free, though i feel lectures and sometimes books can be a bit sub optimal (only some) because of there lack of interactivity. I believe that the best way to learn is by doing it yourself or along with the tutorial.
