I over clocked my my cpu to 4 GHz and in the bios it shows that 4Ghz is what my cpu is running at. When I get into my desktop, speccy shows I;m running at 3.4GHz, but all the separate cores are running at 3.8.... what gives?

intel i5 4670k
MSI z87 G45 mother board.

Thanks.

Speccy will only report the stock speed without turbo. Use CPU-Z or another better monitoring tool.

Depending on how you have your C-states configured, your CPU may downclock and undervolt itself in response to load to save power.

Yeah it's showing the same thing on CPU-Zm I'm not quite sure whats going on, do you think I should change power settings?

You probably have power saving stuff enabled in the bios like "cool n quiet" that makes your cpu run lower clock speeds, i bet if you have a full load on the cpu then CPUZ will show your overclocked speeds. If you want to run it at max speeds all the time then just disable all the power saving stuff and enjoy.
