Okay so my cousin has been playing a game with some friends and he claims that some guy has joined the lobby and has "hacked his account" i assured him that this is impossible without him having my cousins email and password and then the guy started saying that he knows where he lives and his mums name and that he has virgin media internet i dont understand this at all could anyone help please would be much appreciated thanks.

That's most lightly a lie. They are just doing it to scare people, and maybe to trying to troll people.

This is quite easy with some social engineering and Having his IP address. He can do nothing to you.

They most lightly don't. They can't really find out his information without doing something major. If you've played xbox or playstation for a fair bit like me you get this all the time.

-General Location on where the IP is at
-Area Code
-Internet Service Provider
That is all, but like I said, you can get valuable information from social engineering

He might of gave his name to the hacker and he used facebook to find mum and dads name and then the internet a random guess nothing to worry about.
