We are the only species who believes in an afterlife.
What makes us so special? What makes us feel so entitled?
Is there a heaven for dogs, cats, rats, cows, snakes, etc?
I do believe in a greater being, whether it is a God or something else something created the universe.
But why must we follow a religion in order to get to that afterlife? Our ancestors did not have organized religion as we do now so are they not entitled to an afterlife?
I was just thinking and this has been pondering my mind for a while and wanted to hear some other opinions.

I'm of the opinion that it is our sentience that has brought about this belief of an "afterlife".

i.e I'm an atheist.

However, I'm definitely open to the teachings of such holy books as the bible, and the way of life of some Buddhists.

I do believe that animals and other species will have a heaven. I was christened when I was young but I never go to church. I do believe in afterlife for everyone but I don't believe that it depends on how good you have been throughout your life because everyone makes mistakes.

Thinking outside the box here but;

Why must we be such an irritatingly curious species?
Always wondering and creating theories about what created where we are and so on and so fourth.

What difference would it make to our lives from knowing such things?
Other than change the way people live potentially for the worse.
(for example if it was proven there was no afterlife)

I totally agree with what you're saying. Why does it matter if there is an afterlife? Once you die you won't remember anything anyway. We are a curious species and must know everything but that is part of what allowed us to come this far.

I was Christened as a Catholic but never go to Church, my belief is that there is an afterlife and when we die you are taken to a place where we can be reunited with all our family that has past before us, gives me a little peace

This isn't a conspiracy though. It's just a thought that has been pondering in my mind for a while.

Edit: I see it has been moved. Interesting.

We are the smartest living animal on this planet. Our brain is more developed then any other
species. This makes us more curious what will happen after we die. Therefore we are trying to build up a fantasy world in our mind to let that anxiety that something bad will happen after we pass away get out of our heads.
I still do believe in some kind of afterlife ( A happy one together with our familys ).

This is just thoughts

Regards

I don't think it has anything to do with entitlement, I think it's about the fear of death and dying.

Nobody knows what comes after death, but most people want to assume that something good will happen (ex heaven)
