Before I post this, I want you to know that I have read a whole bunch of threads and comments that have brought me to this point. I know either way it doesn't effect me in anyway and seems to be a pointless problem. However it just bugs me to no end.
Current Gen consoles are as follows..... Xbox one, PS4 and Wii U.
LAST GEN is Xbox 360 PS3 and WII.
For the love of god, please stop saying next gen.... We have no idea what the Next Gen of consoles shall be....
I assume those who consider Xbox one and PS4 next gen are those who do not own those consoles yet, and think just because they haven't moved on that the industry hasn't.
Does this bother anyone else? Do you agree or disagree?
I would love to have a respectful discussion about this and see what your opinion is.

Omg, thank you so much for making this post, i keep getting frustrated with this. People are complaining about how much they hate the ps4 and xbox one how "nextgen" is so bad, which makes me want to facepalm.

Even some very reputable gaming info sites are still referring to X1 and PS4 as next gen. My question to all those who say "next gen" is, When does this become current in their opinion?

This really doesn't bother me.
I own the 360 and I refer to the Xbox One/PS4 as current gen. Some of my friends though still refer to it as Next Gen considering it hasn't been out long.

I refer to the PS4 and Xbox one's as next gens just as a habit. I feel it doesn't really bother me or anyone I know that much.

I can understand why people call it Next gen because Current Gen consoles just came out and people are trying to fit in with it.

Since these are the first new consoles in around 8 years, I think it's still easier to refer to them as 'next gen' even though technically they're now current gen. There was so much hype leading up to their launch.
Besides, I honestly don't find it annoying, I think you're just nit picking.

The consoles just came out? Not everyone has these consoles. Even I have the XB1 and I still refer to it as a next gen console. The XB1/PS4 generation hasn't even started yet(fully), so it's still next gen. Still a lot more to implement, develop and release.

Before I go off as it is 5:16 AM here, here is my opinion on this
Current Gen:
I believe that current gen (for now) is the Xbox 360 and PS3. I understand that technically X1+PS4 is current but I will explain that in a minute.
Next-Gen:
Xbox One and PS4 because even though it is next gen. It hasn't been out long enough to be referred as current gen in my opinion.
I personally think people will start to call X1 ect current gen in a few months time. When the consoles have 'matured' a little and a lot of people upgrade to them.
