triskut wrote So lets do some math.
At least 250,000 people have used DNS modding in the past week.

If they were to be console banned xbox live would lose $55 x 250,000($13,750,000)every year in just xbox live subs. R* would then lose $2,500,000-$3,500,000 in potential sales from every DLC. R* and MS hate glitching and modding but when its on such a large scale what can you do?

Here's an example. A large number of the borderlands community hacks and mods. I have modded in both borderlands 1 and borderlands 2 throughout the entire history of both games and have never had even a warning. Yes, GTA is a larger game but what can R* really do? sort through millions upon millions of transactions in the game? They don't have time to even program something to do that. They are focused on DLC and simply fixing this huge security flaw in the game.

This wave of hacking and modding in GTA V is, in as respecful of a way I can say it, R*'s fault. They can't ban all these people because they would lose a large part of their community and would most likely lose future game/DLC purchases. R* cares about their games but, don't forget, they're a business and business loves money. In 1977 ford knew of a flaw in their pintos that would cause a huge fire if rear-ended and they figured it would be cheaper to just pay the lawsuits for the dead/injured people.

All I can see happening from this is R* fixing their game and maybe some money rollbacks. Anything else would be a kick to the balls of the accounting dept.

but you also have to realize that not all 250k people who used the dns server are all useing 1 year accounts. And of that 250k how many were multiple accounts.? You have to at least some of your numbers right.

I wouldn't even bother. I mean it's just going to cost money in the end.

I'm talking general numbers these are very loose estimates but regardless it will be expensive for MS and R*

It's perfect...

Wouldn't be to sure on that. If i got console banned i would grab myself a PS4 but i see your point it would be a perfect way to make some more $.

Or perhaps even an Xbox One

If they ban me I will never buy a r* game again... there are a large number of people who share the same sentiment. I don't mind a cheaters bin truthfully. Some of the most fun I've had in videogames was in cheater lobbies. I don't have time to spend weeks grinding to get all the items. I know some people do but I work full time and actually have responsibilities. So people gave themselves money and xp do you really think R* wants to lose all of those peoples business?

they haven't even breached 2 billion yet. With a business that big to see a 1.5% sales loss due to a ban wave is unacceptable. People need to understand GTA is not about the gamer having fun it's about r* making money, hence micro-transactions being brought in.

Business is nasty but it's business. they won't flush money down the toilet for a modding incident. They will fix their game, ban the big guys who hosted and promoted this and then the game will move forward.

Ik they dont want to lose there players but i don't think Microsoft will let people do that i know there not gonna ban like 50k people but if u abuse i think you have a high chance of getting banned for sure like hosting lobby's and advertising your gamertag everywere
