Some good PC games you would probably like from what you said are Minecraft and DayZ, but some other really good PC games are Skyrim, Garry's Mod, Just Cause 2, and Fallout New Vegas. Most of these games are also on console, but they are better on PC because of mods.

Might want to go for some of the things I call the basics
League of Legends (not on steam and free)
Garrys mod
Counter Strike
Minecraft
Anything else youu want! Wait for Christmas day and/or after because there is usually major steam sales

I would love to Get Rust as well but unfortunately i spent all my money on Gifts for my relatives.
Here are some games you might be interested in(I really Love Zombie games)
7 Days to Die(its in Alpha stage so there are some bugs) Its like Minecraft and DayZ put together. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

League of Legends might be free but you will end up spending money down the road.
