Do you really need the blu-ray player and an i7? I'll answer that for you, you definitely won't need the i7, and maybe you'll come to use the blu-ray at some point, instead of watching a movie on Netflix.
Yeah, there could be some changes, because for that budget you could prioritize money in the right places to have a better balanced build. Don't use PCPartPicker because it doesn't take into account shipping costs so your total price may not be 100% accurate.

Do i need an i7: well, if im going to build one, im not going to want to have some i5, i want the best of the best.
Blueray player: Is that what that was? I didn't know that xD i just want a normal one (hint:some things are bound to change)
PcPartsPicker: It does account in shipping?

LockandLoad wrotei7 does not improve gaming at all, and actually in some cases there are certain i5's that do better in gaming. so yeah, definitely drop the i7 for an i5MichaelBay wrote Do you really need the blu-ray player and an i7? also, you can get a nice dvd drive for $20. A $77 drive is overkill

Oh wait, they won't. For what you'll be doing, you won't need an i7 or come close to fully utilizing it (no, using your CPU @100% doesn't justify full utilization). An i5 will be more than enough, don't be so quick to leap towards the big numbers and toss aside the more reasonable options.

Almost daily I do work involving video editing/rendering and 3D animation/general work. I am no professional but I do require plenty of processing power to keep everything moving quickly so I can get work done. Because the i7 has hyperthreading I have that much more in terms of resources to multitask and do the work that I do.
The i7 is definitely a niche CPU, not for everyone simply because 95% of people don't need it.
