First rant
This has really annoyed me,
it's been going on since middle school.
Okay, if you're late to school for a certain amount of times, you get punished for it.
I think about 10 tardy's will get you in-school suspension.
If you continue to be late, you get ten days of suspension.
Why should you get punished for this? You're getting to school and class barely starts for the first ten minutes.
Second rant
We're not allowed to bring outside food. (Fast food)
The school lunches are so disgusting, we can literally go to McDonald's in a minute and there's a corner store close by. Why should we pay 3$ for 3 pieces of uncooked chicken.
You can buy something that's 10x better at McDonald's dollar menu.
Anyone have even worse rules?
Everyone makes some very valid points, high school does get you ready for life.
I understand being late can get you fired. Just annoyed me because my friend gets good grades but is late because he has to take care of his sister.
McDonald's isn't healthy, but the schools lunch is 10x worse.
They force us to be healthy, even though we're served hamburgers most of the time.

The tardiness rules is ridiculous, especially since the schools don't know the situations of the students. I had a tardy back in the middle of October, I get a ride because it's the only way I can get to school, when my mom drops me off (I'm 16 in February, only have my permits for now) and I was caught up because my sister needed a ride and she doesn't care about school so she held me up, took her sweet time.
My first tardee... got to school 15 minutes late for something I could not control. I got an hour detention after school. It's insanse, not even a warning. I was super pisseed.
The lunches aren't a big deal, you get a good variety and they're not as strict if you go out for lunch but you only have 25 minutes so it's your fault if you're late for class. I feel you though, High School is horrible. Honestly the worst, they don't care. Worst experience of my life and it's only my second year.

so true its the same for everyone you have to follow rules in life without them well I don't think the world would excist but when you find a job you HAVE to follow rules or its simple you get saked/fired

They have the tardy rule because schools lose money like that. I you show up late or don't come to school.

The school can't set different rules for kids in different situations. Sure, you may have a hard time getting to school on time for whatever reason but the majority of those coming in late are trying to prove they're some sort of bad-ss. Since the school can't differentiate between the two, the only real option is to apply the rule to all students. Of course all the...bad-sses will still come I late since, you know, they "ain't about that life".

A suspension for being late? That's just crazy!
When I was in school it used to be an in-school suspension for two lates within one week. I thought that was a bit too strict, never mind suspensions for being late!

UK schooling tends to be a bit less strict
If we're late about 25%+ of days, we get a letter home for our parents to inform the school of what's going on
My school are known to be strict as well
Looks like you Americans get it a bit harder in this department
I think teachers everywhere just hate people getting lunches from anywhere but the school.. As I'm in sixth form, I can leave and go to Tesco, McDonalds, Dominos etc. except the canteen refused to let us eat them in the canteen.. It's annoying but still be glad you're in school, not the world of work

We get detention if we are late to class 3 times, in school suspension if we are late 5 times, and 3 days of out of school suspension if we are late 7+ times.

Both of those rules apply at my school.
With the whole Tardy thing, at my school it's 6 tardies to any class and you get 1 day In School Suspension. But on the 5th one they call you down to the office and let you know, hey you got one more tardy till ISS.
The whole food thing is quite dumb in my opinion. At my school just about everyone drives. So in the mornings people will go to Chick Fil A in the mornings and get breakfast and keep it in there lunch bag til Lunch and they'll eat the rest of it. Or a lot of people call their parents and ask if they can bring in lunch from somewhere and they get it.
I don't understand neither of these rules. There pretty stupid imo.
