So, recently I got back into history, and have been looking into outlaws, Billy the Kid in particular. I've heard a couple stories of how Billy the Kid died, and i've heard another one.. so here are the stories( maybe a bit off i'm no expert)So what do you guys think of how he died?

Story 1: Pat Garrett rode into Fort Sumner,New Mexico and asked a local farmer because Pat thought the farmer would know where Billy was. So at midnight when Pat Garrett went into the home Billy was about to get a piece of steak(supposedly)from the farmer so Billy had a knife and pistol in his hand. Pat was sitting on the edge of the farmers bed when Billy walked into the room.He knew someone was there and the last words from Billy were "Quin es?" which transfers to "Who's there". The Pat Garrett killed Billy the Kid.(there is another version where he did step back a bit, but thats about the only difference)

Story 2: Pat Garrett actually shot one of Billy the Kids mexican friends which could lead to why he said "Quien es?".Billy the kid or Brushy Bill Roberts escaped, changed his name, and did an interview in 1950(or '49) about how he was actually Billy the Kid. Some researchers did some facial recognition and found that Brushy Bill Roberts and Billy the Kids identity was amazingly alike. I've heard that they don't want to do much research because thats what brings tourism around there. So they don't want to lose tourism so they wont processed with research.

Well this is all ive found out so far, sorry some of it is off probably but, what do you guys think? hopefully you can give a prediction/opinion off of what i've said. So reply on what you think/have learned. (feel free to include article links).

The only thing I know about Billy the Kid is my Step-Dad has family ties to him. My step-dad is from Longview, TX. And his grandma did a family tree thing online and came back that my step dad has ties with Billy the Kid.

It's just something cool that I remember. I don't know much about him though.
