Hi guys, i've taken a graphics course and hoping to have a career in this subject and was hoping you could help me decide on a laptop/desktop i could get.
my budget is the 800, if your thought comes to anymore than that still please let me know on your suggestion.
i would prefer a laptop as i cannot stay in one place for so long because i get bored :/ so i'm constantly going up and down from my bedroom to living room, although maybe your suggestions may change my mind.
I will be using dreamweaver, photoshop, illustrator etc. also will be doing music and video editing (probably not all at once).
so leave some feedback on what you recommend.

Desktops almost always offer better value for money, and you can also save even more by building one to your exact needs.
That said if you want a pure media unit which you'll need to last a long time and take a beating then Mac's are a good choice with a lot of professional media tools being coded specifically for OS X.

i was actually considering getting a MAC but just wasn't sure if they ws worth it. thanks for your suggestion going to have a look at some MAC's now n see what i think

They have superb build quality and excellent customer service, with Applecare also you can upgrade to three year warranty. That means they would bend over backwards to help during that time to help you out.
Of course as its a premier product, you may get better performance from a custom built PC you make yourself.

If i custom built my own would windows 7 OS be my best option... i know that they are stopping support for windows XP in april 2014, so not willing to get that if i have to change before long because it's just a waste of money. or would you say that windows 8 is a better option?
i've heard a few complaint's about windows 8 but haven't got round to using it yet.

Windows 8 has shown better performance in games from benchmarks run on the same hardware, so i'd get that.
Any OS can be tweaked, so i wouldn't worry about little niggles. Someone will find a way to fix it and release a mod for it.
