Now, a lot of speculation has been going around the forums these past few days due to the plague of XP lobbies in public matches. Hopefully, I can clear some of the confusion up, and have TTG users worrying less around the forums. It also may cut down on the constant barrage of "Will I get banned?" posts.

Here's some ways to tell if you're going to get or have a higher chance of getting banned and/or suspended when Infinity Ward goes hunting for cheaters/hackers.

1. Are your online stats wildly outrageous? If they are, then you may need to be concerned, due to the fact that your stats are all over the leaderboards, clouding the actual stats of honest players. If they aren't though, you shouldn't be too worried. For each prestige in almost every past Call of Duty game, it took around 24 hours of play time to reach a single prestige. For me, it took 22 hours for Prestige 1 in Call of Duty: Ghosts. So, that's kind of a reference point for your stats.

Personally, my account on MW3 was modded to 7th prestige with over 200 prestige tokens about 4 months into the game's lifespan. The way I kept to myself was by using them on Double Weapon XP and Permanent Unlocks. Any way to keep myself appearing normal on the leaderboards, the better. To this day, I haven't been banned or suspended on that game. Not even once.

2. Even if your stats are reasonable, your rank could also be a dead giveaway. If you're already a high prestige, you're drawing suspicion to yourself. Infinity Ward may not personally find you themselves, but other online players may have reported you, due to the fact that your already an absurd rank. The game has only been out for a week, so the online players haven't had physically enough time to rank up that quickly. So, in reality, your online matches may have ratted you out.

3. If you are a lower prestige/no prestige, the chances of getting banned are unlikely in my opinion. If nothing is really drawing attention to your account, there's really nothing to cry about. You should be in the clear as far as I'm concerned.

4. I'm not exactly sure where this came from, but going around the web and forums are statements from Infinity Ward stating "They are not banning all players, because as most cases are accidental", it would be unfair to ban players who stumbled upon and found themselves gaining ridiculous XP online. Infinity Ward has NO way of telling if you joined the lobbies intentionally.

Finally, there's really no way to tell if you're going to get a ban/suspension from online play. Only time will tell. Until Infinity Ward starts the ban cycles, no one will for sure 100% know if they are going to receive punishment.

If you find yourself in a ban situation, you could always contact Infinity Ward through Twitter, email, etc. explaining yourself and why you should have been punished. Unfortunately, these exploits are just a sad side effect of a new Call of Duty title launch. So, if you are subject to a ban/suspension, it's just a tough break. But really, all in all, haven't you really been playing enough Ghosts to continue to level up after your suspension? I'm sure you all questioning your account status would have played enough in the future to get you back to where you were.

Thanks, hope this helped shed some light on this problem we're having around the Call of Duty forums!

Great post. some good information.

I went up just one prestige but my damn score went up to 16k as my average score and I'm like 13k on leaderboards for score. Think I'm safe?

Where are you ranked on the leaderboards though? If you're standing out, there's definitely a higher chance of receiving a ban.

Is there any lobbies that don't put the score in the boards so high?
