My laptop will often over heat when rendering videos or doing other intense tasks if I dont plug in my cooling stand; now my complaint is, when this happens, the computer automatically shuts down instantly with no warning what so ever. This really annoys me as there is a heat sensor in computers otherwise it wouldn't know to turn off in the first place, and also programs like HWMonitor use it. So what I want to know is, why doesn't windows give you a message warning you that your PC is overheating, so you can do something about it before it's too late.

The reason why it shuts down is to prevent any over heating damage. This is NOT controlled by windows, it's controlled by your BIOS/UEFI. If you're doing any serious rendering you shouldn't be using a laptop, they're not designed for that. Get a moderately powerful desktop for that and use the laptop for interwebs only. Trust me you'll like this feature in the long run, and if you're gonna use the laptop make sure it can properly ventilate.

So you're complaining that your PC is using a built in safety feature which will prevent permanent irreparable damage to your system?

I think that you would be more upset if it didn't automatically shut down, rendering your laptop useless.
