Okay, that title was just a convenient way to get you to check out my post.

Listen, I aint buying myself no $100 TV to play the One on. They look like crap, so I'm going to go with a monitor!

The problem is, unless I get a monitor that has built in speakers, I won't get any sound.

I'm wondering if it's possible to buy an HDMI cable (the One uses HDMI) that splits off into a 3.5 mm audio jack. Then all I'd have to do is get a coupler so that I could hook up my PC speakers and BOOM! DONE!

Anybody know if that's possible? Or maybe something similar?

Then save more money, of course a $100 tv looks like crap. The resolution would probably be 140p.

Man, I didn't make this thread so you could tell me to buy another tv. I'm too poor for that. I'm talking about using a $100-150 monitor.

Well first off a $100 Monitor is going to suck. If you are going for a monitor for gaming (Which is what I use) then you have to look at some key features of what to get.

1. Look for "Ms" which is your response time on your monitor, most Tvs are 5ms or more but with monitors they can go down to 1ms. Definitely look for 2ms or lower on a monitor for gaming.

2. If you are buying it for the Xbox One make sure the monitor has at least 120mhz. That is your Refresh rate on your monitor which improves movement viewing and more.

3. Of course make sure 1080p and if you have the money go for a 4k Resolution monitor since the Xbox One will support 4k anyways. (4k resolution is a better resolution above 1080p, it usually goes up to 2420p)

4. Make sure the Input lag on your monitor is as low as possible, most Tvs have terrible Input lag making them go above 5ms response time which is terrible. Look up info on the monitor you are wanting about it.

5. Yes you could buy splitters to try and hook up audio but it will costs you, if anything get a headset that has an Optical audio cable so you can hook it up to your Xbox and hear it through your headset only. It is much better that way.

I own the Benq XL2420TE which is amazing, look it up if you are looking for a beast monitor.Hope I helped some!

I use to play on a 27" computer monitor. It had a great picture but I disliked sitting at a desk for long periods of time.

I eventually switched back to playing on a TV screen.

Get this one: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I just got it and it's very good. It has built in speakers and 1ms response time too, because it's the newer version that just came out in September. I highly recommend it. Either this one or of course the more expensive models The price just dropped $10 too.

if you want try and get a monitor with an audio jack that is 1ms response time.

This is the monitor currently being used at mlg/umg events.

I thought that PC monitors weren't compatible with the xbox one. Becuase the xbox one doesn't support 120hz
