I have been playing ghosts today and I'm getting a lot of lag spikes every now and then is anyone else having the same issue?

Yup, same. I got disconnected from over 40 + games now saying you lost connection to the host/server and I know for a fact it's not my connection. I got a .6 w/l because of it, it counts it as a loss

I don't think the dedicated servers are up yet, I think it's just the old setup for multiplayer currently. I'm not 100% sure on that, but that's what I've heard. Also I'm expecting a shaky launch for the dedicated servers, first CoD using them plus the amount of people that'll be trying to connect at once. Could potentially see another GTA V type launch server wise.

I thought the dedicated servers were not till the new consoles.

Dedicated servers are way better, the system that they've used is a p2p or peer to peer system where everyone's consoles are talking to each other as well as the "host" the p2p system has been around since online gaming came around so it's a little dated to say the least lol. Pretty much since they use this system is why the host can lag switch and dashboard to make games end.

The benefits to them using dedicated servers pretty much go all around, all the consoles "talk" to just the server and not really each other. Also if someone tries to dashboard it will just take them out of the lobby and not affect anyone else, same with lag switching. Dedicated servers really shine when you have a good internet connection, you shouldn't see any fluctuating ping, so no lag spikes or anything like that as long as the servers their using are at least decent. The only con is if the game only used dedicated servers (luckily Ghosts uses both in case someone is out of range to get a good connection to a dedi) is that one day in the future the game would be unplayable online because the servers would be taken off and used for a different game. This con doesn't apply to Ghosts though.

There are a lot more pros and cons to each system (p2p and dedicated servers) and I'll go in more depth if anyone wants.
