so I have a hp pavilion a705w with 4 ram slots and windows 8 64bit how much ram can go in?

it depends on how much the motherboard can take

I looked up the specs of your computer and it can only have a max of 1GB RAM (2 x 512MB), although it says it only has 2 RAM slots whereas you say it has 4 slots.

yeah it has 4slots so idki put 4gb in there but I connected the pc to my monitor with a vga and it comes on but theres no picture any suggestions?

Looking on the website again and it says HP recommends only a max of 1GB but it can go up to 2GB. If you're still using the stock motherboard I would guess that you've put too much RAM in, if you have upgraded the motherboard have you made sure you have bought a graphics card to go with it?
