Idd if you overwrite your character you will lose it but if you dont he should come back i lost mine dashboarded a bit and it came back after about 30mins, he wasnt on the social club either

Yeah its happened to me a couple times. Just wait till the cloud servers are back up and your character should be restored.

I understand the profile not loading when the servers are down, but the servers are up and I'm not getting anything saying it's down such as "cloud servers are down" or unable to connect. I'm positive I lost my profile to their potato servers.

My character has been deleted but when I go 2 social club on the gang page it says my rp.

spent all first day playing just for it to get deleted now when i thought rockstar werent going to delete another character with 5 days safe and me getting to level 31 it gets deleted..
im not playing this game til they actually fix it.. 5 years waiting for this..

whilst the cloud servers are down it will save over your actually save, then it deletes itself so you dont have one and complain they have lost it

Also the servers are down right now, from around 8:30-12:00 GMT the servers go crap because all the Americans start finishing school and work and whatever else they do

I never selected a temporary character. And the servers are up for me because when I try to load my online profile, it doesn't say "Servers unavailable" it just tells me to create a new profile+ others are connecting to servers as we speak.

Best thing to do is nothing and just wait for a update. I already made a ticket on their site.

Hopefully the potatoes take notice that it's not anyones fault but theirs.
