I just tried it and the cash register didnt respawn.

For me it sets me into and open lobby and the store is closed. I wonder if it has been patched?

Yea it says the store is closed, It has been recently robbed.

It's working for me so it isn't patched. Keep trying.

maybe thats the reason it wont work for me, I was in a lobby with other people.
