This is a joke right?

A .22 wouldn't do anything to stop a mountain lion.
You could shoot a human with a .22 and they would still keep coming after you.

I would prefer a 30-30 at your age. Its a good gun for big game and small game. Or a 30-6. Or like me and you are in physical shape have a 9-13 inc Knife (Buck Knife is what i use) Im saying this because i am surrounded by animal life and hunt and guiding and outfitting is my job.

Like everyone else said a .22 would do nothing to a mountain lion, It will kill the coyotes but it will just piss the mountain lion off. I would suggest a .243 or a 9mm, And if your parents are like mine then just walk around with a .357 on your waist, But then again I need the .357 for bears.

Bots wrote ok so i havent been on here in a long time but anyways i am 14 and i live in the "backwoods" on about 100 acres im always outside and hiking and hunting small game(with a pellet gun) but there is also mountain lions and wild hogs and coyotes(not so worried about the coyotes) on the property and i have been hearing storys of people being attacked and killed bye mountain lions do you think my parents should let me carry a .22 around? so i dont get malled bye a mountain lion? there has been alot of sightings of mountain lions around were i live and i find scat and paw prints all the time.

How about you don't walk into the mountain lions house and you won't need a gun to "protect" (murder) it with ... and only kill what your gonna eat, killing animals for fun is a coward thing to do

I think for a 14 year old to use a weapon, they have to be trained well.

If you would have read the other things he has posted on this you would know that he eats what he shoots, And mountain lions will attack you no matter where you are, If they wanted to they would eat you in your front yard. He lives on the land he should be able to use it, He also said he hikes so what is he supposed to do if he sees one hiking? Run? Have a conversation with it?

Honestly, No. I wouldn't let my kid if I had one anyway that's dumb you're 14 your dad should go with you and him carry the gun because there has been a lotttt of deaths due to young people who think they know what they're doing and even if you do know you can still mess up with one i'd say you're too young to carry a gun better learn how to climb a tree, run fast or bring your dad along.. Btw i'm not saying an adult can't mess up with a gun anything can happen but I think it'd be more safe for your dad to carry it around then you

I believe you must be at least 16 to carry a .22 around so yeah your father might have to come with you.
