ok so i havent been on here in a long time but anyways i am 14 and i live in the "backwoods" on about 100 acres im always outside and hiking and hunting small game(with a pellet gun) but there is also mountain lions and wild hogs and coyotes(not so worried about the coyotes) on the property and i have been hearing storys of people being attacked and killed bye mountain lions do you think my parents should let me carry a .22 around? so i dont get malled bye a mountain lion? there has been alot of sightings of mountain lions around were i live and i find scat and paw prints all the time.

If your only 14 and there are mountain lions maybe you should take your father with you, I would carry a .22 but still. Also is it your property?

If there are mountain lions and coyotes the only thing a 22 will do is make them more angry

a coyote could be tooken out with a .22 easy ive seen them on the property and hear them every night i would prefer to use a 12 gauge though lol

You're talking about taking big game down with a .22 LR. Wouldn't suggest a varmint round for what you're doing. The Mini 14 is popular for a reason.

im not looking to go and hunt coyotes and mountain lions (mountain lions) are protected were i live (until they kill some lives stock then we would get a permit to kill it

What do you do with the small game that you kill with your pellet gun?
I live in the UK so I find it strange that you're actually allowed to do that...?

Hopefully, he hunts for food and pest population control. You should shoot targets if you don't have a reason to kill anything.

Self defense is different from hunting. I thought you were looking to carry a gun because you'd be hunted. Check your state laws for minors; it should be fine since you're on your property.

squirrels i eat , doves i eat , quail i eat , ground squirrels are nasty pests
