Which one did you buy in the end?

It depends a lot on the play-style that you like. I think a really, really powerful top laner is Riven. If you can get really good at her, you really can't lose any match ups unless you come down to playing someone that is better than you.

If you like early dominance, go for Riven. Just remember that if you shove too hard, people will tend to just freeze under tower and you won't be able to snowball much. If you like going for late/mid game, go for Nasus. Nasus is extremely strong mid/late game, and is pretty much unstoppable in late game.

If you like AP champs, but still want to go top, i would suggest someone such a Vlad or Elise. Just remember, in a lot of ranked games, Elise is either banned picked.

I would also say to watch some gameplay/livestreams on champions that you're interested in, and look at their capabilities and their limits, to see if it fits your playstyle. Also, you could always make a PBE account and try any champions for free, in pretty much the same environment as the normal servers.

I havent bought one yet, i am still thinking of Shen or Renekton. I am just gonna wait till the next free champion rotation and see who are there. If shen or renekton are there i am going to try them out, if not, i think i am going to buy Renekton, since Shen gets banned alot in Bronze.

Fiora, she ruins in team fights is pretty tanky and just ruins everyone.

Elise is a nice in the top lane. She is my most used top lane, I also play her mid an jungle. If you looking to have some fun in the top lane you could do like karma or nidalee. Jayce and GP are also fun to play top.
