Thank you for this...

I have already got the mother board as I sniped it on ebay brand new for 75

the reason I chose the 4GB one is due to me using a 55" smart 3d tv as my monitor so thought this would have a huge effect on it.

I will change the parts to create the new build :-)

It wouldn't affect performance at all. 2GB is plenty for 1080p gaming. The size of the panel doesn't matter; 1080p is 1080p.

ohh ok... curious what is the GB for then as I thought it would be gaming power & more res potential.

That's VRAM. Textures and data are stored there and factors like anti-aliasing, resolution, and the amount of resources used by the game determine how much is used. Having more VRAM only improves performance if it can be used, same as system memory. 2GB should never be inadequate and if future games need more, the performance of your card, not the amount of VRAM it has, should still be the limiting factor.
