NBA 2K13 is a basketball video game developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. It was released on October 2, 2012 in North America for the Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows and Wii. A version for the Wii U was also released as a launch title in North America, and in December for the PAL region. Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers and Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls are the cover athletes. NBA 2K13 is the successor to NBA 2K12 in the NBA 2K series.

Around mid-June 2012 2K Sports announced a 'Uncover the Cover' where the more tweets #NBA2K13 got the more clues would be revealed about the cover athletes. 2K also announced NBA 2K13's compatibility with Kinect for the Xbox 360. Two of the legends from NBA 2K12 have been removed: Julius Erving and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.On May 3, 2012, 2K Sports announced that as a bonus for pre-ordering the game, buyers would receive downloadable content for an All Star Weekend, which would feature the Slam Dunk Contest, Three Point Contest, Rising Stars Challenge, and the NBA All Star Game. Also a shoe creator was developed, with Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Spalding, Reebok, Converse, Under Armour, and generic shoes available to create and edit.Jay-Z serves as executive producer of the game. He has been credited with the idea of having both the 1992 and 2012 United States men's national basketball teams in the game.[4] Initially, Scottie Pippen was left out of the game due to the inability to secure use of his likeness. However, after widespread disappointment from fans over his absence, he was then added to the team roster.In 2013 2K added NBA 2K13 Lite (in addition to the previously release NBA 2K13) to the iOS platform. This version of the NBA 2K series of games is free, and appears to be a cut down/demonstration version of the full NBA 2K13 iOS title.

- Hop-Step in the paint. Before you shoot in the paint, particularly underneath the basket, hit the B/Circle. The defender may lose his balance on the player, leaving room for an open shot or fouling the shooter, sending him to the free throw line. Pump-faking (taping X/Square) right before shooting can have a similar effect.

- Call for picks! When the ball handler calls for a pick (LB, L1) a teammate will come and stand in front of the defender allowing the ball carrier to run around said teammate for a drive to the basket or open jump shot. The "pick player" often brings his defender with him which causes two of the defense players to be together, opening up the floor. Fade picks (the second, green kind) generally work best if you want the ball carrier to score.

-The Give and Go. The give and go is where a player passes the ball to a teammate, then rushes to the basket, looking for a pass to score. To do this, give the ball to an athletic player like the Point Guard or Shooting Guard. Pass to a teammate by hitting the pass and shoot button simultaneously (A+B, X+Circle). THe player who passed the ball will then rush to the basket with the pass button (A,X) above their head. If the palyer is open, pass the ball and perform a layup or dunk. Keep in mind that the player needs to be open for this to work.

- Do a quick dribble move. Quickly flicking the right stick in any direction will cause the ball handler to do dribble move and return to his standing position. This can add slight separation between the ball handler and defender without going into an extended animation.

- Move the ball around. By moving the ball throughout the floor, defenders will get confused and jumbled together. This should cause a player to get open for a shot. You can also move the ball by bringing up your plays by hitting "Right" on the d-pad and choosing the "Run Best Play" option and following the directions until you get an open shot.

Team Selection

If you aren't the best or still learning the ropes on defense, then it's best to choose a team with strong rebounding abilities (eg. The Bulls). The more you're able to take advantage of missed shots, the more you'll make up for poor defensive ability.

Switching Players

In general, it's best to switch your player on defense with the ball-handler. When a player passes, they often break, by switching players, the computer will take control of the player and be better at following their man and will stick with player who just passed the ball. Likewise, you will get a better jump on an open shooter, increasing the chance you will block the ball or the shooter's vision.

Defensive Positioning

There is a misconception that holding down the defensive positioning (LT, L2) will result in better defense. Holding down the trigger should only be done when 1) Defending a player in the paint, particularly post players or 2) When a player has posession of the ball when close to being out of bounds. Holding the defensive position can limit the room the ball-handler has to move, increasing their chances of losing posession. However this position also limits the defensive player's speed. If used at the top of the key, the ball-handler will have an easier time getting around the defender.

My Career

My Career allows you to take the role of a newly drafted NBA rookie. Since you only play as the one player, the gameplay is slightly varied from the traditional game. Along with playing in games to work up to become a star player, you sign sponsorship deals, answer a press conference question after each game and can have conversations with your team's general manager that, depending on your clout, can change the make up of your team or even send you to another squad.

At the main menu, select the "Features" option, choose the "Codes" selection, then enter one of the following codes to activate the corresponding cheat function:

NBA 2K14 is an upcoming basketball video game that will be developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. It will be released on October 1, 2013, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 as well as the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One (which has been set to released November 15, 2013). LeBron James of the Miami Heat will be the cover athlete, and also served as the music curator for the game. 2K Sports also released the DLC pack that as a bonus for pre-ordering the game, they would receive 10,000 VC, bonus content for "Path to Greatness" mode, adding James in the Blacktop mode and a signature skill for MyCareer mode. On August 14, 2013, 2K Sports annnounced that Crew Mode would return to this years installment of NBA 2K. NBA 2K14 is the successor to NBA 2K13 in the NBA 2K series.

On July 2, 2013; 2K Sports and Euroleague signed an exclusive multi-year deal to include teams in the game. Jason Argent, senior vice-president of sports operations of 2K Sports said that "Were absolutely delighted to be able to welcome top Euroleague teams into the NBA 2K series, European basketball has an incredibly passionate following, and were all excited to give fans the opportunity to take on Europes best in NBA 2K14." This will mark the first time Euroleague teams have appeared in the critically acclaimed NBA 2K series, similar to the NBA Live series which included FIBA teams that also included the U.S. national basketball team which also been found in 2K13, beginning in Live 08 and ending in Live 10, and was supposed to happen in Elite 11 but was cancelled.
