Hey TTG, I'm sure this rant has been posted here countless times. But I just have to get this off my chest.
So as I'm sure ALL of you may know, the new consoles will be coming out in November. Until then, though, we have to sit through countless arguments about each console and how it is better.
Just a couple topics of the consoles and what I think of them:
1. The Xbox One isn't focused on gaming and is more focused on TV and other pointless apps.
No, it is not. X1 is focused just as much on gaming as any other console, if not more. They are simply adding TV and other apps that are useful to some people. Just because you don't like/use them, doesn't mean they're stupid and/or pointless. It is called the Xbox One because it is an all-in-one entertainment machine. They are not less focused on gaming, but instead combining gaming, TV, apps, music, movies, etc, all into one machine.
2. The Xbox One/Ps4 is just an upgraded Xbox 360/ps3.
In a way, you're right. They are highly upgraded versions of last year's consoles. However, both consoles have aspects that are making them new and innovative.
3. Xbox One/Ps4 is a piece of trash and you shouldn't buy it.
How do you know that? Have you played the console in your own home, with enough time to try it out fully? No. So stop telling people something is trash because of things you've heard your friends say, the internet say (which is mostly just opinion anyway), or something you've read that SOUNDS bad. Don't just hop on a bandwagon of your favorite console and auto-hate on the other. That's stupid. Who knows? When the consoles come out, xbox one could suck and ps4 could suck too. We don't know until we play it.
4. Xbox One/Ps4 is copying the other console.
This one makes the laugh. Yes, they are copying. Doesn't mean it is stealing or in a bad way of copying. Xbox One now has blu-ray, and Sony has party chat. There are many other things people claim they are "copying" from the other console. But the point is, they are just expanding their console's capabilities. So, yes, they could be "Copying" the other console/any console, but it is just to help them. Not to steal from the other.
5. You should get this console and here's why.
Don't believe someone else's opinions. Get the console you want to use, and your friend's play if you're a community player.
6. Microsoft is money hungry.
They're not money hungry, they're smart. There is a reason Microsoft is worth over 200billion and Sony is worth around 70billion, while sony has been around longer. Yes, Microsoft likes money. But it helps go to us as well. Helps us with LIVE security (which is amazing), servers, production, etc. It comes back to us, and helps us play safer.
7. Sony will get hacked again.
It happened once. Congrats. Doesn't mean it will again. We never know, we can't predict the future. It could, it could not. Microsoft could get hacked. We don't know.
8. Fanboys.
Just because a user defends a console/side, or likes that console doesn't mean they're a fanboy and are sucking someone's dick. It is simply a preference.
There are many other stupid comments that a lot of user's make. To me, I don't see a point. Come November, I will be happily playing an Xbox One. And soon after a PS4. But guess what? Does not mean I think either one is superior. Both consoles are amazing and have better specs. In my opinion, PS4 is more hardware-based, and X1 is more software-based. But, this is just my opinion. Let's just all enjoy the fact we're getting new consoles and a new experience.

I'm pretty sure the Playstation Network has been hacked on more than one occasion.
... and the first time was a pretty big deal to be honest.
Sure, Xbox One probably does have a little worse specs, but at least I can feel comfortable knowing that they're a little more secure.

It's kinda sad that they're not the best of the best like they were back during the release of the current gen when their hardware was sometimes stripped and reused. I don't play on PC because of the price to build a PC but man it sure does look appealing.
