So I have been watching all these tutorials all over the "interwebs" about flashing my Xbox Slim.

Now I have come up with a question that is in the way of me flashing the console.

So I know that you have to get the new [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] in order to flash Xbox Slim but, also there are these other things that the tutorial says me to get, even tho' I think are not necessary.

Ex. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Which is supposed to "convert" your SATA cable to USB and connecting it easily to the PC.
But cant I do it by just attaching the SATA cable right from the DVD drive to my PC SATA port?
(This particular part costs around 50$.)

Then there is another part called [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .
And this part is meant to get the power to the Xbox's DVD drive.
But again cant this be done by simply connecting the drive on to the Xbox's built-in
power source.
(And this particular part costs around 25$)

So long story short my main purpose to this post is to ask, do I really need those "extra" parts or can it just be done like I said, without the external "connectors" and by saving a lot of money from stuff I really don't need.

Just so you know, I have looked up at THIS tutorial and my DVD drive is Liteon DG-16D4S 0225(SLIM) so all the parts and the whole tutorial can be found there under that tab.

You don't need the x360usb parts if you have a desktop with a spare sata port and a sata cable but i'd advise looking into before you buy one since its very expensive for what it is..

It would be cheaper to send it into someone and get them to flash it lol

Nah, I have already flashed my earlier original Xbox 360 so no big deal. And wouldn't have anyone to send it to anyways. Faster to do it myself, just wanted to know that do I really need all the extra components.

Thanks.
